According to the executive, the meeting made it possible to identify concrete opportunities to expand the use of digital technologies within Mozambique’s financial system, promoting more accessible, faster and safer electronic payments.

“There are many opportunities in the country for the digitalisation of payments, the introduction of new technologies and innovation, which could contribute significantly to modernising not only payments in Mozambique, but also the economy,” he said.

Michael Berner added that the President of the Republic showed openness to deepening institutional cooperation with Visa in order to accelerate initiatives linked to financial innovation and technological modernisation.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of Daniel Chapo’s participation in the 13th edition of the Africa CEO Forum, taking place in Kigali under the theme “The Scale Imperative: Why Africa Must Embrace Shared Prosperity.”
