Millennium bim has been recognised by international financial publication Euromoney with the awards for Best Bank and Best Digital Bank in Mozambique at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026, a distinction that acknowledges leading institutions in the banking sector for their performance, innovation and leadership.
In a statement cited by MZNews, the bank said the awards carry particular significance at a time of profound transformation in the sector, as customers increasingly demand services defined by agility, proximity, trust and efficient digital solutions.
According to the institution, the recognition comes against a backdrop of accelerating digitalisation in banking, where financial institutions face growing pressure to adapt to evolving customer needs and to deliver services that are simpler, faster and more secure.
For Millennium bim Chief Executive Rui Pedro, the awards represent above all an acknowledgement of the continued trust of the bank’s customers and the commitment of its staff, whose dedication and adaptability have driven the institution’s progress.
“This international recognition reinforces our ambition to continue raising the standards of banking excellence in Mozambique and to consolidate Millennium bim as a reference institution in the country’s economic and financial development,” Rui Pedro said.
The chief executive added that the distinction “further strengthens the international recognition that Millennium bim has been achieving across different strategic areas of its operations”, highlighting the institution’s ongoing journey of transformation and modernisation.
Over recent years, Millennium bim has been consolidating a more modern, integrated and customer-centric banking model, combining financial robustness, technological innovation and the capacity to adapt to new market dynamics.
