Banco Comercial e de Investimentos (BCI) has been recognised by Euromoney magazine at its Awards for Excellence 2026, receiving the Best Bank for Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) award in acknowledgement of the institution's performance across environmental, social and governance criteria.
According to a statement from the bank, the distinction follows an independent technical assessment conducted by Euromoney, one of the leading international publications covering the financial sector.
The Euromoney Awards for Excellence annually recognise financial institutions that stand out for their performance, leadership, innovation, digital transformation and strategic impact in the markets where they operate. The awards ceremony took place in London, bringing together representatives from banking institutions across multiple international markets.
For BCI, the recognition in the ESG category reflects the growing integration of environmental, social and governance criteria into the institution's strategy and operations, against an economic backdrop that the bank describes as particularly challenging for Mozambique.
The institution considers the award to also recognise the transformation and innovation process it has been pursuing, as well as its adoption of practices oriented towards sustainability and long-term value creation.
BCI reaffirmed in the statement its commitment to continuing to support Mozambican households and businesses, contributing to economic growth and the promotion of a more sustainable development model in the country.
Euromoney is an international publication specialising in banking, finance and capital markets, with its Awards for Excellence presented to financial institutions across different geographies and segments of the sector.
