The Turkish Defence Industry Agency (Savunma Sanayii Başkanlığı – SSB) will start cooperating with the government in the supply of Turkish military equipment and development of the defence sector.
“The idea is to improve the capabilities of the two countries through more effective cooperation by investing more in the development, production, acquisition, maintenance of defence goods and services and relevant technical and logistical support,” revealed the agreement released on Tuesday (19) by Lusa.
According to it, the union covers the principles of mutual cooperation activities between the governments of the two countries, government agencies or approved private organisations.
The agreement is valid for five years, and can be automatically renewed for successive three-year periods at the will of both parties, and will also involve the creation of a joint mixed commission with representatives from both countries.
The document was signed in September by the president of the SSB Agency, Haluk Gorgun, and the Mozambican Minister of National Defence, Cristóvão Chume, during a working visit to Turkey.
“We are determined to fly the flag for our defence industry in Africa. The agreement with Mozambique covers the principles of the activities to be carried out jointly by the two countries,” Haluk Gorgun said at the time on the social network X, formerly Twitter.
During his visit to the European country, the Mozambican minister was received in audience by his Turkish counterpart, Yasar Guler, during which they signed a Military Framework Agreement between the two nations.
