Train traffic on the Ressano Garcia line in southern Mozambique has been disrupted since Tuesday (23) due to the derailment of five wagons of a train coming from South Africa.
“The derailment occurred on a train towing 80 wagons of magnetite from South Africa,” said the company Caminhos-de-Ferro de Moçambique (CFM) in a statement sent on Wednesday 24 January.
According to the company, this situation is preventing all traffic on the line, including passenger trains, and it emphasised that a commission of enquiry has already been set up to investigate the causes of the incident.
The company regretted what had happened and “sincerely apologised” to the users of the Ressano Garcia line, “especially the passengers”.
