The Podemos Party guarantees that the national strike will take place on Monday, regardless of the murder of Elvino Dias and Paulo Guambe, the president of that political formation, Albino Forquilha, announced today.
Forquilha assured that the plan to contest the results of the elections will continue even after this crime perpetrated by unknown individuals.
‘It’s a murder against the will of the Mozambican people who, through Podemos, are demanding electoral justice through the vote they cast on 9 October.
He pointed out that despite the latest developments, the national strike is still on for Monday and everyone should stay at home. He explained that the strike is a political demonstration to put pressure on the legal proceedings that Podemos will be taking.
‘The murder of Elvino Dias and Paulo Guambe is a signal to Podemos that the national strike can’t take place on Monday, but we’re not giving up. We’re going to keep fighting and we’re going to present our complaints in good time and if they’re not met we’ll know what to do,’ he emphasised.
