President of the Republic Daniel Chapo officially launched the “Transformar” project this Monday (23rd), in the Cahora Bassa district, Tete Province—an integrated initiative aimed at accelerating sustainable development in the region and improving the living conditions of local communities.
Funded by Hidroeléctrica de Cahora Bassa (HCB), the project includes the construction of a residential area, a photovoltaic power plant for clean energy supply, water supply systems, greenhouses for vegetable cultivation, poultry farms, chicken processing units, dairy farms, cattle and goat pens, as well as facilities for cereal and meat processing.
During the visit, the President also inaugurated a new access road built to improve connectivity between population centers, boost the transport of goods, and ensure greater mobility of people and products.
The ceremony was held as part of the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of Hidroeléctrica de Cahora Bassa, a historic milestone for Mozambique’s energy sector. Daniel Chapo engaged with the local population, reaffirming the Government’s commitment to participatory governance that remains close to the people.
According to the Presidency, the “Transformar” project is “another step toward consolidating the economic and social development of Tete, harnessing local resources and promoting community inclusion in a sustainable way.”
