The main objective of the competition is to “build bridges between China and Portuguese-speaking countries through sustainability-oriented enterprises.”
In its second edition, the 928 Challenge will have two lines this year: one for universities and one for startups. The competition will begin accepting entries in May and the final date for submission is September 30.
Teams will participate in a 2-week bootcamp to gain insight into the business environment and opportunities in China and Portuguese-speaking countries.
José Alves and Marco Duarte Rizzolio, representing the event organizers and the City University of Macau, explain that the 928 Challenge “results from a collective effort of three stakeholders: academia, business, and government. These three stakeholders must work together to share ideas and resources to meet the expectations that China and Portuguese-speaking countries have of Macau.”
The competition is co-organized by Forum Macau, Macau City University, University of Macau, Macau University of Science and Technology, University of San Jose, Macau Institute for Tourism Studies, United Nations University Institute in Macau, Shenzhen University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University, and Rio de Janeiro State University.
