Finnish company HMD Global, owner of the Nokia brand, has launched an ecological campaign with the aim of planting dozens of trees for each unit sold of several models of its product line.
Called “Let’s plant together”, the campaign is the result of a partnership with the sustainable initiative Ecologi. The trees will be planted in Mozambique and Madagascar.
According to Nokia’s official announcement, the number of trees to be planted will be based on the number of units sold of devices from the G and X series of smartphones, and the initiative will also include the new T20 tablets.
Also according to a company statement issued Wednesday, the initiative is only available for European customers and will continue until the brand reaches 35,000 trees planted. To participate in the action, the user must register the registration number of an eligible smartphone.
Sustainability is increasingly present in the present strategy of large global companies in virtually all sectors. HMD Global has also made efforts in this direction, such as packaging 100% recyclable products and exchanging for components with sustainable materials.
