RENMOZ 2025: Maputo Hosts Largest Renewable Energy Conference Focusing on Energy Transition

The city of Maputo will host the largest conference in the renewable energy sector, called the Renewables Business Conference in Mozambique – RENMOZ – which will take place on April 23 and 24, 2025, highlighting the sustainable future and opportunities to accelerate the country’s energy transition.

According to a statement, the event is jointly organized by the Mozambican Renewable Energy Association (AMER) and the Lusophone Renewable Energy Association (ALER), with the support of GET.invest Mozambique – funded by the European Union and Germany – the Africa Energy Challenge Fund (AECF) and the Swedish Embassy.

Under the central theme “Mozambique’s Energy Transition”, the conference will bring together business leaders, government authorities, experts and international investors to discuss the next steps in the introduction and expansion of renewable energies. One of the key moments of the event will be the official launch of Mozambique’s Energy Transition Strategy, which will outline the country’s climate commitments, solutions to mitigate climate change and innovative financing mechanisms.

In this regard, the president of AMER, Ricardo Pereira, said: “RENMOZ 2025 is a fundamental and strategic forum for the country, where we translate the national commitment to the energy transition into concrete actions and real opportunities. It is a privileged space for establishing constructive dialogues between the public and private sectors and international partners, promoting the cooperation needed to achieve the goals and commitments Mozambique has made on the international stage. This is also the time to affirm our position as a country, showing that we are active protagonists of a sustainable, inclusive energy agenda geared towards economic and social growth.”

Mozambique has great potential for renewable energies, including solar, wind, hydro, biomass and geothermal

The conference will also address key topics such as the development of a modern energy system based on renewable energy sources, investment opportunities in green industrialization, the adoption of clean energies in the transport sector and initiatives to guarantee universal access to modern energies, reinforcing the importance of the energy transition for Mozambique’s sustainable development.

ALER President Mayra Pereira said: “RENMOZ 2025 is much more than an annual meeting – it is our shared commitment to reaffirm Mozambican President as a central hub and catalyst for renewable energies in the region, building strategic bridges that link national challenges to regional and international opportunities. Through this platform, we are strengthening partnerships, promoting sustainable investments and building a more equitable, inclusive and resilient energy future, aligned with global energy and climate goals.”

One of the most crucial moments of the event will be the publication of the 4th edition of “Summary: Renewables in Mozambique 2024”, which provides a comprehensive analysis of the development of the renewable energy market in the country and presents current data, trends and opportunities in the sector.
