Renewable Energies May Reduce Natural Gas Consumption

The multiplication of renewable energy sources has introduced reductions in the demand and consumption of natural gas, as well as in the determination of large consumption markets, which causes uncertainties in the evolution of demand in the medium and long term. This fact also generates a negative impact on the Moatize coal projects.

This finding was presented today (21), in Maputo city, by the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, during the opening of the 7th Mining, Gas and Energy Conference and Exhibition of Mozambique, which ends tomorrow.

According to the President of the Republic, Mozambique should consolidate the foundations laid under the negotiations with the operating companies, for the establishment of indicators for gas sale contracts, having the National Hydrocarbons Company (ENH), as aggregator in accordance with the Petroleum law.

On the other hand, in the field of small-scale mining, with great impact on the income generation of families in rural areas, there is tax evasion, environmental pollution, child labour and illegal activities.
