Maputo City is hosting, today, 24 February, a hybrid conference for the presentation and discussion of the impact of the regulation of access to energy in off-grid areas in the country, in particular in places using mini-grids and solar systems.
This is an initiative of the Lusophone Renewable Energy Association (ALER) and the Mozambican Renewable Energy Association (AMER), with the support of GET.invest Mozambique, the Energy Regulatory Authority (ARENE) and the Energy Fund (FUNAE).
The aim of the meeting is to promote a debate between the public and private sectors, with a view to publicising the opportunities existing in the sector and clarifying any questions raised by the regulation.
During the event, in addition to the presentation of this instrument, the opportunities available to the private sector, and the summary of all the projects and support programmes that will benefit from this regulatory framework will be addressed.
Regarding this stage, ALER and AMER congratulate the Mozambican authorities responsible for implementing the regulation on access to off-grid energy, reinforcing that they are available to study in depth the more technical issues that may be raised, including with their associates.
Proof of this is that in November 2021, the Lusophone Renewable Energy Association and the Mozambican Renewable Energy Association held the virtual conference on renewable energy in Mozambique.
Under the theme “Renewables for Self Consumption in Mozambique”, the conference discussed the potential of the energy market for self consumption in Mozambique, with emphasis on the commercial and industrial sector and the characterization of market demand.
GET.invest is a European programme that mobilises investments to decentralised renewable energy projects, supported by the European Union, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands and Austria. Since 2019, the programme has been operating in Mozambique funded by the European Union and Germany.
