The Mozambican President, Filipe Nyusi, revealed on Tuesday 30 January that Mozambique will initially receive 60 million euros from the “Mattei Plan”, presented at the Italy-Africa Summit.
Speaking at a press conference to take stock of his participation in the event, which took place in Rome, the head of state said that the amount would help to create more opportunities and boost development in all areas.
“Italy was happy to organise this event, and the Africans clearly showed that they didn’t just come to listen; they were open to sharing ideas about sustainable business,” he said.
The “Mattei Plan”, named in honour of the founder of the Italian oil company Eni (Enrico Mattei), is estimated at 5.5 billion euros and aims to create opportunities in Africa, including financing, donations and loan guarantees.
