In Algiers, the Mozambican President, Filipe Nyusi, challenged Algerian businessmen to invest in the country, particularly in the exploration and transformation of Mozambique’s natural resources.
“It is in our interest to transform our resources in Mozambique to employ more Mozambicans and create income for families,” stressed the Mozambican head of state, speaking to journalists during his working visit to Algeria since 28 February.
“The potential is immense in the areas of agriculture, tourism, but also in infrastructure, mining, energy and fisheries. Combined with the experience and scientific and technological knowledge that Algeria has, they can make our co-operation vibrant,” added Filipe Nyusi.
During this visit, which began on Wednesday, the Mozambican President has already been received by his Algerian counterpart, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, on which occasion he encouraged the country’s entrepreneurs to invest in Mozambique, guaranteeing that there are privileged spaces for Algerian companies to participate, individually or in partnership with Mozambican companies, in the exploration and transformation of the country’s natural resources.
The two leaders also agreed to hold the sixth session of the joint commission between the two countries. “This is a unique opportunity to coordinate actions to fulfil our collective interests,” said Nyusi.
During this working visit, the two governments signed legal instruments for co-operation in the areas of hydrocarbons, energy, agriculture, fishing and public and military security.
