PR Congratulates Christians on Easter and Says this Is a Time to Reflect on Peace

Filipe Nyusi called on Mozambicans to reflect on the best ways to preserve peace and national reconciliation. Filipe Nyusi is also calling for solidarity with the victims of cyclone Freddy and terrorism.

“Easter, more than a celebration of life, passion and love, constitutes a moment for reflection, reconciliation, gratitude and renewal of spirit,” said Nyusi, explaining that it is on these values that Mozambicans should devote special attention.

“I invite all Mozambicans in general and Christians in particular to reflect on the best ways to preserve peace and national reconciliation, despite the economic risk, caused by external and internal factors, as well as the social crisis that is accentuated by the degradation of moral values, among many other obstacles to the construction of a prosperous country,” reads the message addressed to Christians.

The President also said in his message that the reflection on Easter Day should extend to solidarity with those most in need. “Our faith and convictions are still called to solidarise with our compatriots that were ravaged by Cyclone Freddy and those who still face the drama of terrorism in Cabo Delgado province,” he said.

The Head of State said that the country counts on the Christian community, and the Mozambican community in particular, to overcome the challenges it faces, including the integral formation of man in faith and science.

“Today, more than ever, we are called upon to make individual and collective sacrifices, so that we may be protagonists of the economic and social transformation that we want, and of the building of the greater good – life”, concluded the Head of State.
