Post-Idai Reconstruction: World Bank Disburses $12 M

The World Bank (WB) will provide US$12 million for the reconstruction of several public buildings that were severely destroyed in the city of Beira during the passage of cyclone Idai in March 2019, said an official source.
The works will start later this year, according to the executive director of the Post Cyclone Reconstruction Office (GREPOC), Luis Mandlate.

The works are the Provincial House of Culture, the Provincial Justice and Labour Service, the 1st Civil Registry Office, the Provincial Library, the 1st Notary Office, the Sports Pavilion, the National Public Rescue Service, the Regional Emergency Public Warehouse, the Office of the Sofala Secretary of State and the Provincial Directorate of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources.

According to the source, the amount will also be applied to 37 other projects in the districts of Nhamatanda, Dondo and Búzi and 21 projects located in Cabo Delgado province, all affected by storm Kenneth in 2019.
