Portugal’s ambassador to Mozambique, António Costa Moura, on Tuesday 12 December delivered 300 books to the Mozambican Supreme Court (SC) to strengthen its collection and contribute to better access to knowledge for magistrates.
According to the diplomat, the delivery of the legal bibliography is part of the “Support for Justice in Mozambique” project, whose partners are the Institute for Cooperation and Language, the Portuguese Directorate-General for Justice Policy (DGPJ) and the Mozambican Ministry of Justice, Constitutional and Religious Affairs.
“The Portugal-Mozambique Strategic Cooperation Plan (PEC) for the period 2022-26 establishes that bilateral cooperation in the area of justice is a priority, with the aim of contributing to greater efficiency and effectiveness in the Mozambican legal and judicial systems,” said the diplomat.
For his part, the vice-president of the TS, João Beirão, thanked the court for the gift and emphasised the practical use that the books will have in judicial activity, expressing his willingness to increase cooperation with Portugal.
“We remain open to co-operation with Portuguese institutions. It’s Christmas and we think this is a gift,” he said.
