The Mozambican Republic Police (PRM) will recruit and train 4,000 new officers starting January 2026, as part of the 44th Basic Training Course for Guards. Applications will be open from August 18 to September 30. The police headquarters assured that the process will be conducted with rigor and transparency, urging candidates to comply with the established criteria and avoid illegal practices.
PRM spokesperson Leonel Muchina emphasized that “positions in Matalana are not for sale” and warned that anyone involved in corruption or fraud will be held accountable. To reinforce the integrity of the process, reporting channels will be available, as in previous recruitment drives.
According to the official announcement, the training will last nine months and take place at the Police Practical School in Matalana, Maputo Province, starting January 5, 2026. Recruitment will be carried out across all PRM commands, with preference given to male and female candidates who have completed mandatory military service.
The selection process includes a medical examination on November 15, interviews between November 26 and December 3, public hearings with authorities and citizens from December 8 to 12, and announcement of results on December 22.
In January this year, President Daniel Chapo urged the new PRM General Commander, Joaquim Adriano Sive, to intensify efforts against terrorism, kidnappings, and organized crime, emphasizing the need to restore public trust in the police. Joaquim Sive, who previously led the provinces of Cabo Delgado and Nampula, promised discipline, community engagement, and proactive crime prevention and response.
