The Assembly of the Republic (AR) will meet today, 29 March, in plenary to debate the draft revision of the electoral law on an initiative of the Frelimo benches.
The debate had been scheduled for last week, but was postponed at the request of Renamo, which wanted more time to analyse the draft.
In fact, the draft law on the punctual revision of Law No. 8/2013 of 27 February establishing the legal framework for the election of the President of the Republic and the Members of Parliament, as amended and republished by Law No. 12/2019 of 31 May, will be under consideration in general and speciality.
Also to be considered in the same manner is the Bill for the Punctual Revision of Law no. 3/2019, of 31 May, establishing the legal framework for the election of the Provincial Assembly and the Provincial Governor.
Later today, Parliament will debate the urgent matter, with the presence of the government, on “cases of robberies and fires of vehicles with Mozambican registration plates in South Africa,” according to a press release from the HR.
Meanwhile, on Monday, 27 March, the benches of Renamo and the Mozambique Democratic Movement (MDM) did not participate in the debate on the issue in the Commission for Constitutional Affairs, Human Rights and Legality.
