The government of the United States of America (USA) has made 319 million meticals (5 million dollars) available to promote projects that increase community resilience in Niassa province, northern Mozambique, covering 15,000 families, Lusa reported on Thursday, 28 November.
‘The initiative, which has an investment of 5 million dollars, aims to map social and economic vulnerabilities, promoting projects that increase community resilience. The results are expected to directly serve at least 15,000 families,’ reads a note from Niassa’s executive council.
The funding comes from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), which is responsible for distributing foreign aid from the US government.
According to the document, the projects developed are also expected to have an impact in areas such as ‘strengthening livelihoods and income generation, governance and social cohesion’.
‘The partnership reinforces the commitment of the Mozambican government and USAID to practical and lasting solutions that have a direct impact on communities, with particular emphasis on young people and women,’ the information concludes.
