The “Agora-Emprega” programme, a government initiative carried out through the Secretariat of State for Youth and Employment (SEJE), has allocated 32 million meticals to support initiatives by young entrepreneurs in Niassa province, northern Mozambique.
According to information released by the newspaper Noticias this Friday (2), projects based in the districts of Lichinga, Cuamba and Lago will benefit, most of which are run by women who are dedicated to various activities, particularly chicken farming, beef and goat meat processing, agriculture, catering and beauty.
During the ceremony to hand over the funding, the Secretary of State for Youth and Employment, Oswaldo Petersburgo, challenged young people to focus on finding solutions to overcome the difficulties they face and end unemployment in various parts of the country, pointing out that the Executive has focused on expanding technical and vocational training as a way of supporting young people.
“Training has contributed to improving the qualifications of young people in Niassa province – 151 companies have taken part in management training and 25 have been selected to benefit from funding,” he explained.
In addition to the “Agora-Emprega” programme, young people in the districts of Lichinga, Cuamba, Marrupa, Месаnhelas and Mecula were covered by the “My Kit, My Job” initiative.
