Portugal’s new prime minister, Luís Montenegro, will soon be making an official working visit to Mozambique, in what will be his first trip to the country after taking office, following the victory of the Democratic Alliance (PSD, CDS-PP and the Portuguese Monarchist Party) in the legislative elections on 10 March.
The information was announced on Friday (26) by the head of state, Filipe Nyusi, during the launch of the book “The End of the National Liberation Struggle in Mozambique, Operation Omar”, by Atanásio Mtumuke, an event that took place in Lisbon and was attended by Portuguese leaders.
The Mozambican statesman didn’t give any further details about Montenegro’s planned visit, emphasising that the diplomats of the two countries will take care of the details.
Nyusi travelled to the European country at the invitation of his counterpart, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, to take part in the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April.
“The working visit will last until 27 April. Meetings are planned to hold talks with Portuguese leaders on specific issues of bilateral cooperation, boosting trade and investment,” said a statement released by the Presidency of the Republic.
