Mozambique Saves $45 Million in Clinker Imports

Mozambique will save US$45 million on clinker imports, the raw material used in cement production.

Clinker is obtained through a combination of limestone and clay, abundant resources in Matutuine district and across the country.

According to the President of the Republic, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, who was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the new national cement plant – Mozambique Dugongo Cimentos – the country should stop importing it.

Currently the new cement company is investing in the construction of a dry cement production line in Bela Vista, Maputo province, with a daily capacity of 5000 tons of clinker.

The new plant has the capacity to produce two million tons of cement per year and it is expected that it will further boost supply throughout the country.
