The deputy minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Manuel Gonçalves, is participating, from Monday 28 November, in the 115th Session of the Council of Ministers of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OPEC), and in the 45th Session of the joint ECOWAS-European Union (EU) Council of Ministers, in Brussels, Belgium.
According to Mozambican news agency Noticias, the ministers will assess the degree of implementation of decisions from previous sessions, discuss and agree on positions on issues of interest to African, Caribbean and Pacific countries and the European Union, with emphasis on the signing process of the future framework of relations between the two organisations, post-Cotonou, and cooperation for development financing in the context of the new financial instrument, the Neighbourhood, Development and International Cooperation Instrument (NDICI) – Global Europe 2021-2027, which replaced the European Development Fund (EDF).
The source also said that the meeting would also assess the preparations for the 10th Summit of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States to be held in Luanda, Angola, on 9 and 10 December of this year.
On this trip, the deputy minister will be accompanied by Mozambique’s ambassador to Belgium, by the national permanent representative to the European Union, Berta Cossa, and by the director of the Office of the National Authorising Officer (GON), Ambassador Mário Nguenha.
