Mozambique Attends Conference on Humanitarian Response in Gaza

The Mozambican President, Filipe Nyusi, will represent Mozambique at a conference on the urgent humanitarian response to be provided in the Gaza Strip, in the face of the conflicts taking place in that region of the Middle East.

According to a press release, the meeting will take place in the city of Amman, Jordan, and the head of state will attend in response to a joint invitation from the King of Jordan, Abdullah Al Hussein, the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and the Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres.

The two-day event (11 and 12 June) will take place under the theme ‘Call to Action: Urgent Humanitarian Response for Gaza’ and aims to mobilise the international community to provide collective and rapid assistance in the face of the humanitarian catastrophe affecting the populations of the Gaza Strip and other regions affected by the Israel-Palestine conflict.

On this trip, Nyusi will be accompanied by the Minister of National Defence, Cristóvão Chume, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Manuel Gonçalves, the Mozambican Ambassador to the United Nations, Pedro Comissário, and officials from the Presidency of the Republic and other state institutions.
