Mozambican President and Vietnam today signed two memoranda of understanding in the areas of aquaculture, energy and mineral resources, the Mozambican President announced, saying that the instruments will consolidate the ‘historic friendship’ between the two countries.
‘The legal instruments should guide co-operation in the areas of aquaculture and energy and mineral resources, thus cementing the historic and traditional friendship that has bound us to the Vietnamese people since our independence,’ said Filipe Nyusi on his Facebook page.
The Mozambican statesman considers the signing of the agreements an ‘important step’ in strengthening co-operation with Vietnam, noting that the moment was also witnessed by his Vietnamese counterpart, To Lam.
Filipe Nyusi also pointed out the ‘great potential’ of Mozambican President and Vietnam, after talks with the President of that country, calling for the two nations to continue working together.
‘During my talks with President Lam it became clear that we are two countries with great potential and that we must continue to work together to exploit it for the benefit of our peoples,’ emphasised the Mozambican head of state.
On Sunday, the Mozambican President began a two-day visit to Vietnam at the invitation of To Lam.
During the visit to the Asian country, meetings are also planned with the Vietnamese Prime Minister, Pham Minh Chinh, with businesspeople and the Mozambican community living in Vietnam.
