High-level Mozambican and Malawian delegations will meet this Friday, 2 February, in Malawi, to analyse the situation regarding the land conflict that has been taking place on the border between the two countries.
According to a press release published by Rádio Moçambique, the cases have occurred more frequently in the districts of Mangochi, in Malawi, and Chimbunila, in Niassa province, in northern Mozambique.
“There are accusations of involvement on both sides in the removal of landmarks from their original locations, as well as the destructive action of nature that makes it difficult to visualise the true boundaries between the two countries,” the statement said.
According to the statement, at the two-day meeting (2 and 3 February), the two sides will discuss in depth the issues behind the constant conflicts and seek solutions to put an end to this dispute.
“It is hoped that a consensus will be reached to resume the process of reaffirming the border between the two countries, so that it is visible and respectable,” he added.
The two delegations will be made up of officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Transport and Communications, the Interior and Customs, among others.
