The President of Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embaló, will begin a three-day official working visit to Mozambique on Wednesday, 19 June, at the invitation of his counterpart, Filipe Nyusi, with the aim of deepening friendly relations and bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
According to a report in Notícias ao Minuto, the two countries’ statesmen will preside over a ceremony to sign legal co-operation instruments and then meet privately with their entourage.
“Filipe Nyusi will offer his Guinean counterpart a state banquet at the Ponta Vermelha Palace, at the end of which a speech by the two leaders is planned, as well as a visit to the Port of Maputo,” explains the press release.
According to the document, on Thursday 20 June, Sissoco Embaló will lay a wreath at the monument to Mozambican heroes, and then head to the municipality of Maputo, where he will be awarded the “key to the city”.
“The programme also includes a visit to the Centre for Strategic Analysis of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) and to the Assembly of the Republic, where he will be received by the members of the standing committee and will have a courtesy meeting with the president of Parliament, Esperança Bias,” he concludes.
