The Mozambican Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Maria Manuela dos Santos Lucas, and the High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, expressed their desire for both parties to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between them.
According to the Agência de Informação de Moçambique (AIM), this desire was expressed during a working meeting held on Monday (28) at the EU headquarters in Brussels, during which the two officials reviewed the friendship and cooperation relations between Mozambique and the European Union, exchanging views on strengthening the bilateral partnership in the political and diplomatic domains.
“The meetings of Minister Maria Manuela Lucas were not limited to High Representative Kallas but also included the Vice-President of the European Parliament, Younous Omarjee,” reads a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
The agenda of the Minister of Foreign Affairs includes meetings with the European Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jozef Sikela; the European Commissioner for Crisis Management, Hadja Lahbib; the Secretary-General of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), Moussa Saleh Batraki; the Head of the EU Election Observation Mission for the 2024 General Elections in Mozambique, Laura Ballarin Cereza; and members of the EU Political and Security Committee (COPS).
