The governments of Mozambique and East Timor intend to strengthen friendly relations and deepen economic and bilateral cooperation between the two countries. To this end, Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi received his counterpart José Ramos-Horta, who is in the country for a working visit, on Thursday 4 July.
According to a statement issued by the Presidency of the Republic, the two statesmen will meet to discuss matters of mutual interest aimed at strengthening the development of nations and creating opportunities for investment.
While in Mozambican President, the Timorese leader will also hold talks with the Mozambican President, Esperança Bias, lay a wreath in Heroes’ Square and receive the key to the city of Maputo, granted by the municipality.
“Ramos-Horta will present a lecture at Eduardo Mondlane University on the theme of ‘East Timor, the region and the world’ and visit the Centre for Strategic Analysis of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP),” reads the note.
José Ramos-Horta is visiting Mozambique for the first time since taking office in 2022.
