Mozambican President Calls for an Enhanced Fight Against Terrorism

Filipe Nyusi, reiterated on Monday, November 21, in Maputo, the appeal to the Defence and Security Forces (FDS) to combat terrorism in the province of Cabo Delgado.

Speaking during the opening ceremony of the 23rd Coordinating Council of the Ministry of National Defence, Nyusi said that terrorism opens space for other types of crimes such as money laundering, drug trafficking and kidnapping.

“The Defence and Security Forces must be prepared to jointly combat these evils, so we call on them to strengthen the mechanisms for recruiting young men to avoid cases of corruption in the process,” urged the head of state.

The four-day meeting is being held under the theme “Defence sector engaged in preventing and combating any form of aggression against the homeland”.
