The Mozambican passport ranks 136th in the 2026 Global Passport Ranking compiled by the Passport Reports platform, with a mobility score of 67 destinations.
According to the platform’s latest data, Mozambican passport holders can enter 32 destinations without a visa, while a further 31 allow visas on arrival and four require only an electronic travel authorisation (eTA).
In total, 67 destinations offer some form of facilitated entry to Mozambican citizens, equivalent to 33.8% of the 198 destinations assessed by the platform. The remaining 131 require a visa obtained prior to travel.
Among the destinations accessible to Mozambicans without a visa are South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Malawi, Namibia, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Mauritius, Singapore, and the Philippines, among others.
Countries that permit visas on arrival include Cape Verde, Comoros, Ethiopia, Madagascar, Maldives, Nepal, Indonesia, and Timor-Leste. The platform also lists Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Seychelles, and Sri Lanka among destinations requiring only an electronic travel authorisation.
The Passport Reports ranking is based on what it calls the mobility index, which corresponds to the number of destinations accessible without a visa, with a visa on arrival, or through an electronic travel authorisation. In the event of a tie, the platform prioritises the number of visa-free destinations before factoring in other entry categories.
In the African comparison, Mozambique ranks 22nd out of 54 countries assessed. In a separate classification measuring the ease of entry granted to foreign nationals, the country places 32nd out of 199 countries.
The data also reflects a deterioration relative to 2025. Last year, the Mozambican passport held 127th place globally with a mobility score of 70 destinations. In 2026, the score has fallen to 67 destinations and the overall ranking has slipped nine positions to 136th.
In 2024, Mozambique ranked 137th with a mobility score of 68, while in 2023 it held the same 137th position but with facilitated access to 69 destinations.
The platform notes that the ranking considers short-duration travel undertaken with an ordinary passport and does not represent rights of residency, employment, or extended stay in the destinations assessed. Entry conditions are subject to change based on government decisions, and travellers are advised to confirm specific immigration requirements before each trip.
