Authorities have modified COVID-19-related international entry restrictions as of June 20. Vaccinated travelers no longer need to demonstrate a negative PCR test result to enter the country if they have a complete vaccine schedule. It remains unclear of a booster shot is required. Domestic restrictions remain in place.
Domestic Measures
- Businesses may resume their normal business hours. Restaurants and bars are permitted to open until 23:00.
- Religious services and private gatherings will continue to be limited to a maximum capacity of 1,000 people outdoors and 500 people indoors, without exceeding 50 percent of the maximum capacity.
- Beaches may reopen 05:00-18:00.
- Places such as cinemas, theaters, gyms, pools, or cultural centers, may operate at 80-percent capacity. Sporting venues may operate at 75 percent capacity.
- Stalls for the sale of food are allowed to operate 07:00-17:00 Monday-Saturday and will remain closed on Sundays and holidays.
- The sale of alcohol is permitted 07:00-20:00, Monday to Saturday, and 07:00-17:00 on Sundays.
International Travel Restrictions
- Vaccinated travelers must present an an electronically verifiable proof of a complete vaccine schedule to enter the country. The last dose of the vaccine must have been administered at least 14 days prior to arrival. It remains unclear of a booster shot is required.
- Unvaccinated international arrivals in Mozambique must present a negative result from a COVID-19 PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before departure for the country. Children under five years old are exempt. PCR tests must be verified via the Trusted Travel Initiative, accessible here.
- For travelers arriving in Mozambique via land border crossings, a negative test result remains valid for seven days, permitting multiple entries or short-term return travel.
- Passengers who test positive upon or fail to provide a negative test result must self-quarantine for seven days. Those who provide a negative test result are exempt from quarantine.
All restrictions are subject to amendment at short notice in response to government reviews. Security forces are deployed to ensure compliance.
