A delegation of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) is in Mozambique since Thursday, June 8, to participate in the 3rd Thematic Review Forum on climate change and food security.
First received by the Mozambican President, Filipe Nyusi, for a meeting, the representative of APRM, Lydia Mutenda, said that the Forum aims to find possible solutions to mitigate the impacts of future natural disasters, as well as to design ways to minimize food insecurity that plagues several African countries.
“With our visit to Mozambique, we aim to understand how the country has been implementing mitigation mechanisms for some of the challenges that affect the population, as well as to understand what strategies are being used to combat food insecurity,” she explained.
The Mozambican deputy minister of Economy and Finance, Carla Louveira, said that APRM is in the country to make an assessment of the stage of efforts that the government, the private sector and other actors of society are implementing in order to respond to the challenges imposed by natural phenomena.
The APRM is an instrument established by the African Union in 2003, and its members must be fully identified and committed to the principles, priorities and objectives of good political, economic and corporate governance.
