The Japanese government will provide scholarships for public sector employees to improve their knowledge and skills in various areas of development, including public administration, industry, investment promotion, finance and economic policy.
According to a statement, in order to materialise this intention, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Verónica Macamo, and the Japanese ambassador to Mozambique, Hamada Keiji, signed the “Human Resources Development Project Donation Agreement” on Wednesday (26).
According to the document, the agreement will be initialled in the city of Maputo, where the partnership will also be strengthened with regard to the construction of secondary schools in Zambézia province, in central Mozambique, with the aim of completing the work by 2026.
“The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), through its representative Kazuki Otsuka, is going to sign an addendum with the government to guarantee the completion of construction work on four secondary education institutions in the districts of Nicoadala, Lugela, Mocuba and Namacurra,” he said.
In March, Japan announced a sum of 55.1 million dollars to finance the implementation of projects in the country, as part of the new international cooperation model defined by the Japanese government. At the time, Verónica Macamo and Hamada Keiji signed three donation agreements in the form of an “exchange of notes”.
“The agreements establish the supply of vehicles to the Mozambican police forces to improve the fight against terrorism in Cabo Delgado, and will boost the development of the Nacala Power Station,” said the Japanese diplomat.
