The Japanese government, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), recently announced that it intends to fund training for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with a view to increasing their competitiveness in foreign markets.
According to JICA’s resident representative in the country, Otsuka Kazuki, this action is part of the second phase of the Technical Cooperation Project for the Development of Local Industry, clarifying that its implementation includes an exchange between SMEs in Mozambique and Japan.
“We are working on projects to build capacity and help establish regulations for government institutions and small and medium-sized enterprises, which we hope will bring satisfactory results,” he emphasised.
Over the last 20 years, Mozambique has invested around 1.6 billion dollars in different development projects throughout the country, especially in the infrastructure, agribusiness and natural resources sectors.
