The Government of Japan will offer a surveillance ship and air navigation equipment estimated at over US$23 million (over 21 million euros), announced the Mozambican Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
Verónica Macamo made the announcement after the signing ceremony of the donation agreement in Maputo.
Under the understanding, Tokyo will provide a surveillance ship, still under construction, budgeted at US$830,000(€760,000), and air navigation equipment, estimated at US$22.5 million (€20.6 million), Macamo said.
“We expressed our deep appreciation to the people and Government of Japan for their continued support to Mozambique’s economic and social development efforts and renewed our willingness to see the relations of friendship and cooperation increasingly strengthened,” said Mozambique’s Minister of Business and Cooperation.
The agreement provides for the supply of ground-to-air communication radios, fire-fighting vehicles, drones, airport weather stations and an air traffic control simulator.
A vast training programme for operations staff, namely air traffic controllers and maintenance staff, will also be implemented.
