Inhambane: Government Encourages Entrepreneurs to Seize European Market Opportunities

This Tuesday, 21 May, the government highlighted the high levels of cooperation achieved with the European Union (EU), expressing satisfaction at the close ties of friendship with one of its ‘biggest partners’.

‘This exemplary cooperation is certainly a direct result of the successive fruitful dialogues that we have had the opportunity to hold every year and the interaction at the highest level,’ said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Verónica Macamo, during the ‘Political Dialogue of Partnership between Mozambique and the European Union’, an event that has been taking place in the southern province of Inhambane since Monday (20).

According to the Lusa news agency, during the event she also highlighted the positive impact that cooperation between Mozambique and the EU has on society, pointing out that the volume of relations places the EU among its ‘biggest cooperation partners’.

‘Allow me to take this opportunity to express the government’s satisfaction with the close ties of friendship and the high levels of co-operation achieved so far between Mozambique and the European Union,’ she said.

Verónica Macamo also mentioned the business forum held on Monday (20) in Inhambane, saying that the event created a space for joint reflection on investment opportunities in that province.

‘We are pleased with the results of the business forum, particularly in terms of deepening our knowledge of the mechanisms for preferential access to the European market for the most diverse products that Inhambane province has to offer,’ she said.

She also encouraged the province’s entrepreneurs to continue to take the lead in promoting investment opportunities, contributing to the generation of wealth and the creation of new jobs for Mozambicans, particularly young people.

‘We believe that Inhambane will be able to take advantage of this unique opportunity to maximise the results of contacts for the establishment of mutually advantageous partnerships, which will contribute to boosting the sustainability of our companies and consolidating the business climate,’ he said, emphasising that ‘we are convinced that after this forum and the visit they will make to the different places in this province, and also the conversations they will certainly have with the locals, our European partners, present in this room, will leave with a more in-depth knowledge of the economic and social reality of the province and the enormous investment potential and business opportunities it offers’.

The meeting in Inhambane is being held under the theme ‘Mozambique-European Union Partnership Dialogue: a renewed dynamic, consolidated trust’ and aims, among other things, to analyse the Mozambican political and social situation and the main axes of Mozambique’s presidency of the United Nations Security Council.
