INAM Warns of Rain and Thunderstorms in Southern and Central Mozambique

The National Meteorological Institute (INAM) has warned of moderate to heavy rain, accompanied by severe thunderstorms and gusts of wind, from the end of today, 10 February, in the southern and central regions of the country.

As reported in the newspaper O País, according to a statement from INAM, the weather phenomenon is expected to hit the districts of Tete, Manica and Sofala provinces in the centre of the country hardest, as well as the provinces of Gaza, Inhambane and Maputo, including the capital city and Maputo province, in the south of the country.

The meteorological authorities recommend that the population take extra precautions, avoiding unnecessary travel and adopting safety measures to minimise possible impacts. Civil protection and emergency services remain in a state of readiness to respond to possible occurrences.

INAM undertakes to continue monitoring the evolution of atmospheric conditions and to update forecasts as necessary.
