Mozambique’s Minister of Labour, Gender and Social Action, Ivete Alane, stated this week in Geneva that the country is investing in employment-focused budget planning as part of its commitment to inclusive growth and social justice.
Speaking at the 113th International Labour Conference, organized by the International Labour Organization (ILO), the Minister emphasized that Mozambique is currently implementing a new National Development Strategy, recently approved by Parliament, based on three pillars: inclusive growth, job creation, and social protection.
“We believe it is possible to more accurately assess the impact of public spending on job creation if we adopt employment-oriented planning. We count on the ILO’s support in this process,” said the Minister, also highlighting the importance of social dialogue promoted by the Labour Advisory Commission.
According to Ivete Alane, Mozambique’s employment policy is being carried out with the involvement of 20 public institutions and social partners. She stressed that this coordinated approach aims to ensure that state investments effectively respond to the needs of the labour market.
The Mozambican delegation includes representatives from the government, trade unions, and the business sector, in a joint effort to strengthen the country’s commitment to decent and sustainable work.
