The Government intends to share experiences in the field of sustainability at a summit with the United Arab Emirates, as part of the Head of State’s visit aimed at deepening bilateral relations, said the Minister of Transport and Logistics, João Matlombe, this Monday (12), according to Lusa.
The Government is taking advantage of the official visit of the President of the Republic to the United Arab Emirates to strengthen bilateral cooperation and mobilise financial resources for strategic projects. The visit, which runs until Wednesday (14), includes the country’s participation in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026 and the Zayed Sustainability Prize award ceremony.
According to the Minister of Transport and Logistics, João Matlombe, who is part of the presidential delegation led by Daniel Chapo, the agenda includes sharing Mozambique’s vision on sustainability, including its objectives and ongoing actions. “There will be a sustainability summit taking place, which will also be the moment when Mozambique will share its vision, its objectives and the actions it has been developing in favour of the sustainability of our own country,” he stated.
The minister also indicated that this will be a strategic opportunity to secure financing for priority sectors such as energy, culture, tourism and infrastructure. Although no specific figures were disclosed, Matlombe confirmed expectations of signing agreements involving direct investments in the State Budget, as well as in the private sector. “These are extremely important sectors to boost our economy at the national level. Therefore, work has already been underway between the parties, and this may culminate in the signing of memoranda that will, naturally, seal the conclusion of these negotiations,” he said.
Daniel Chapo’s visit takes place at the invitation of the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and aims to deepen and consolidate political and economic relations between the two countries. According to a statement from the Presidency of the Republic, the diplomatic mission will also serve as a platform to address bilateral cooperation in areas such as diplomacy, logistics, mineral resources, agriculture and the economy, among other matters of mutual interest at regional and global levels.
