Government Creates Mozambique Port and Railways Institute

The government approved a decree creating the new Instituto Ferro-Portuario de Moçambique (IFEPOM), an autonomous public body mandated to supervise, regulate and monitor the activities of the country’s combined railway-and-port system.

The Council of Ministers session redefined new port jurisdiction areas for Mocímboa da Praia, Ilha de Moçambique and Lumbo, Quelimane, Inhambane, Maputo and Matola, Council of Ministers spokesperson Filimão Suazi announced.

The latest cabinet session approved the decree that alters indicative charts of careers under the special and specific regime of the functions of direction, leadership and trust in the system of careers and remunerations, as well as the amount of lifetime pensions.

The government also considered the participation of Mozambique in Expo Dubai 2020.

The Council of Ministers also approved a resolution nominating Chinguane Sebastião Marcos Mabote to the position of Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the National Institute of Land Transport, Tuaha Chabane Mote to the position of Chairperson of the National Institute of Communications of Mozambique, and Tânia Vuyeya Sitoe to the position of Chairperson of the Medicines Regulatory Authority.
