Government Appoints New Leadership at Anditur and National Gaming Directorate

The Minister of Economy, Basílio Muhate, has sworn in the new leadership of the National Agency for Tourism Development and Investment (Anditur) and the National Directorate for Games of Chance.

The appointments are intended to strengthen the institutional capacity of the sector by aligning public management with a strategic vision focused on attracting private investment, developing high-impact projects and enhancing the value of Mozambique’s tourism assets.

During the swearing-in ceremony, Basílio Muhate said that strengthening Anditur marks a new approach to the management of Mozambique’s tourism sector. According to the minister, the agency is built on a strategy focused on attracting investment, creating wealth and developing human capital.

Through these appointments, the Government aims to build a more competitive and innovative tourism sector capable of generating sustainable employment opportunities for Mozambicans. The strategy focuses on a more effective and strategic management of the country’s tourism resources and investment opportunities.

The new Anditur leadership will prioritise attracting both domestic and foreign direct investment, improving tourism infrastructure and promoting Mozambique’s natural and cultural assets. The initiative also seeks to strengthen tourism’s contribution to the country’s economic development.

In the gaming sector, the new leadership is expected to ensure more transparent regulation of games of chance. The measure forms part of the Government’s broader institutional strengthening strategy and its efforts to promote an environment conducive to economic development with positive impacts on local communities.

According to the Ministry of Economy, the appointments reflect the Government’s commitment to building a more organised, competitive and investment-ready tourism sector capable of enhancing national assets and creating new economic opportunities across the country.
