France Says it Is Ready to help to Help Mozambique Restore Security in Cabo Delgado

The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, says that his country is fully mobilised to support Mozambican President in re-establishing security and development in the province of Cabo Delgado with its European and African partners, the newspaper O Paísreported on Friday, 5 July .

According to the newspaper, the French president made this statement in a message addressed to Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi on the occasion of the 49th anniversary of national independence, marked on 25 June.

In the message, Emmanuel Macron said that, on behalf of the French people and in his own name, he was pleased with the quality of relations and the bonds of friendship between Mozambique and France, which have translated into concrete and fruitful partnerships.

“This can be seen in the recent signing of bilateral agreements on maritime and cultural co-operation, as well as the French high school in Maputo. Our neighbourhood in the Indian Ocean also contributes to the vitality of our relationship. France and Mozambique work closely together in the United Nations Security Council,” reads the message from the French head of state.

Regarding his presence as a non-permanent member of this body responsible for maintaining international peace and security, the French President congratulated Filipe Nyusi on his presidency of the Council since last March.
