The Mozambican President will resume plenary meetings on 10 July, with an agenda consisting of 18 items, including the latest annual report on the state of the nation presented by President Filipe Nyusi, according to information from Lusa.
The agenda, according to a note released by the Assembly of the Republic, also includes the annual report from the ombudsman and the re-examination of the law that establishes the legal framework for the election of the Mozambican President, the deputies of the Assembly of the Republic and the members of the Provincial Assembly, as well as the provincial governor.
The document also states that in this tenth session of the current legislature, Parliament will consider the proposals to revise the Law of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique and the Statute of Judicial Magistrates, as well as the draft resolutions for the election of members of the Supervisory Committee of the Sovereign Fund of Mozambique and the Law to Revise the Organic Law of the Assembly of the Republic. Parliament adjourned its plenary sessions on 24 May for the traditional first semester break.
The Assembly of the Republic, with 250 deputies, is dominated by the Mozambique Liberation Front (Frelimo, the ruling party), with a qualified majority of 184 seats, followed by the Mozambican National Resistance (Renamo, the main opposition party), with 60 seats, and the Mozambique Democratic Movement (MDM), with six seats.
Mozambique is holding general elections on 9 October, including legislative and presidential elections, for which Filipe Nyusi is no longer running because he has reached the two-term limit.
