The Council of Ministers approved this Tuesday (23) the Domestic Work Regulations in Mozambique, a legal instrument aimed at aligning the sector with the International Labour Organization (ILO) principles on decent work, recently adopted at the International Labour Conference.
The information was announced by the government spokesperson, Salim Valá, at the end of another cabinet session. According to him, the new regulation seeks to harmonize national legislation with the provisions of the Labour Law and the international commitments assumed by the country.
According to the official, the measure falls under the new guidelines established by Law No. 13/2023, which approved the Labour Law, as well as the principles defined by ILO Convention No. 189 on decent work.
“The main objective is to align the sector with the new guidelines established by Law No. 13/2023, the Labour Law, and with the international provisions of ILO Convention No. 189 on decent work, adopted at the International Labour Conference held on June 16, 2011, as well as Recommendation No. 201, which complements it,” said Salim Valá.
With the approval of this regulation, the government aims to bring domestic work in line with Mozambican labour legislation and international standards defined by the ILO for the promotion of decent work. The instrument is also consistent with ILO Convention No. 189 and Recommendation No. 201, which serve as references for regulating domestic work relations.
In the same session, the Council of Ministers also approved a decree dissolving the National School of Aeronautics. According to the government, the measure is part of the institutional restructuring process in the civil aviation sector and aims to improve services in the country.
