European Union Funds Emergency Response Projects in Mozambique

The European Union is funding around twenty-three million euros, corresponding to more than one billion five hundred and eighty million meticals, for emergency response projects in the country.

The money is being used to rebuild public infrastructure and housing affected by natural disasters in the provinces of Sofala, Zambézia and Cabo Delgado.

The European Union’s ambassador to Mozambique, António Maggiore, indicated that, in addition to extreme weather phenomena, the organisation is focusing on the displaced people caused by terrorism in Cabo Delgado.

Speaking in the city of Beira, the diplomat stressed that the European Union continues to mobilise funding to support the areas of education and job creation.
