The European Union Military Assistance Mission in Mozambique (EUMAM MOZ) launched this week a specialized technical course on ammunition for personnel of the Mozambican Armed Forces (FADM), as part of efforts to strengthen the operational and logistical capabilities of the national forces.
The training, titled Basic Theoretical Course on Ammunition, is being conducted by a mobile advisory and training team from the Austrian Armed Forces, composed of two instructors from that European country’s military logistics school. The sessions are taking place at the Military Driving School in the city of Maputo.
According to the European mission, the course aims to strengthen technical knowledge and procedures related to the safe and efficient management of weapons and ammunition, an area considered critical to the conduct of military operations.
This initiative is part of the cooperation between EUMAM MOZ and the Austrian Armed Forces, which have been providing specialized teams to support training and technical assistance activities in Mozambique.
The initiative contributes to the development of combat logistics support capabilities, while strengthening the technical and operational skills of the Mozambican Armed Forces, in a context where the country faces persistent security challenges, particularly in the province of Cabo Delgado.
As a non-executive mission of the European Union, EUMAM MOZ focuses its activities on the cycle of operational training, maintenance, and specialized training, with the aim of promoting the professionalization, autonomy, and readiness of the Mozambican forces.
Currently, the mission includes military personnel from 12 countries, including representatives from Austria, and its ultimate goal is to support the FADM in achieving greater independent response capabilities in combating armed insurgency.
