CTA: “End of DDR Process Creates Secure Conditions for Domestic and Foreign Investments”

The Confederation of Mozambican Business Associations (CTA), on Thursday, June 15, expressed its satisfaction with the announcement of the closure of the last base of the National Resistance of Mozambique (Renamo), believing that in this way, “conditions are created for the establishment of an effective peace, concord and political and social harmony in the country.

In a statement, the private sector said it “has followed with deep interest and confidence the efforts undertaken as part of the Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration (DDR) process of Renamo’s residual armed men, which culminated with the closure of the Vunduzi base, by the way, the last stronghold.

“We recognise and welcome the efforts, spirit of initiative, commitment, commitment, political will and humility of the Government aimed at achieving and promoting effective peace for Mozambicans, through dialogue with various living forces of our society and particularly with the leadership of Renamo, the largest political party of the opposition, through successive negotiations started with the late leader of the organisation, Afonso Dhlakama, and today continued and concluded in coordination with General Ossufo Momade, current president of the opposition party,” the CTA said.

At a time when the private sector and the government are moving towards holding the 18th Annual Private Sector Conference (CASP), CTA believes that “with the end of the DDR process and the consequent elimination of the sources of uncertainty that the existence of armed men represented, the necessary conditions are created to ensure greater attractiveness of the country as a preferred destination and security of national and foreign investment.

In conclusion, the entity that represents businessmen reiterates its commitment in advocacy for the improvement of the business environment and promotion of economic competitiveness, and applauds “all Government efforts in the tireless search for solutions for total stability and continuous economic and social development of the country, and believes in the quick establishment of normality and elimination of terrorism focuses in Cabo Delgado”.
