Tmcel Donates Food Products to Infulene Psychiatric Hospital

The company Mozambique Telecom, SA- (Tmcel) offered, on Friday, December 11, several non-perishable and hygienic food products to the Hospital Psiquiátrico de Infulene (HPI), as part of the Christmas celebration. The action aims to provide happy parties to patients hospitalized in that health unit, located in the city of Maputo.

Called “Natal Solidário”, the initiative is part of Tmcel’s corporate social responsibility activities, which counted on the contribution of its employees to bring joy, affection and solidarity to that hospital.

Through this gesture, as explained by the head of Tmcel’s Corporate Communication and Social Responsibility Office, Ana Bela Margarido, to create a solidary awareness and contribute to improving the quality of life of patients hospitalized at HPI, in this festive period.

“Tmcel has developed several actions for the benefit of the Mozambican communities, and it has been a tradition for the past five years to join the patients of this hospital, which welcomes and cares for people who suffer from mental illnesses or disorders, often excluded by society. Our aim is to provide them with an atmosphere of fraternization, hope and joy, which characterizes the Christmas season ”, he said.

On the occasion, Ana Bela Margarido praised the role and commitment of health professionals, in particular those attached to that health unit, who work tirelessly for the recovery and dignity of the patients hospitalized there.

In turn, the director of Infulene’s Psychiatric Hospital, Serena Chachuaio, praised Tmcel’s gesture, which will help the institution to provide dignified parties to the sick.

“It is a support that came at a good time, as we registered an increase in the number of patients in the hospital and in external consultations, and that represents expenses for the hospital”, underlined Serena Chachuaio, who pointed Covid-19 as the main cause of this increase.

According to the director of HPI, “because of confinement, people lived moments of anxiety, stress, among other problems. Society is concerned and all social problems are reflected in mental health ”.
